Giveaway Giveaway! Win this “support our troops” Swarovski crystal bracelet
Because this week is our six-month website anniversary — and because we just passed 500 fans on Facebook, and because we’ve had so much fun meeting supporters of our military men and women from around the world — we’re giving away one oh-so-pretty Troop Awareness bracelet ($79) from the jewelry shop Elisa Ilana. The elegant, glittery bracelet features yellow Swarovski crystal — a nod to yellow support ribbons — plus rhodium silver and 14kt gold-filled accents. What’s not to love? Plus sales of the bracelet help a cause we hold near and dear: Elisa Ilana donates 10 percent of its proceeds to support groups for spouses of deployed troops.

“What is your favorite patriotic song?”
It’s tough to choose just one, isn’t it? On my top 10 list is Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” I don’t care that some people think the song is hokey — I love it!

- Facebook fans of The Strength Behind the Strong will get one bonus entry (for two entries total) if you also write in the comments below that you are a fan of us on Facebook. It’s simple: We love the bracelet, and we want one of you to wear it proudly. So we purchased it. Entrants must be 18 years or older to win this giveaway. The winner will be announced on this website on August 26 and will have 48 hours to contact us; if we do not receive a response in that timeframe, we will select a new winner. We encourage our male readers to enter too — the bracelet would make a terrific gift for a wife/girlfriend/sister/daughter/mom. Good luck!

I don't think it's hokey at all, it has to be Lee Greenwoods "God Bless the USA" I get tears in my eyes every time I hear that song and think of the men and women who have fought for our country.

I love the bracelet! My favorite patriotic song changes, of course, but right now it's "O America" by Celtic Woman.
I would have to say my new favorite patriotic song would be "Ragged Old Flag" by Johnny Cash. It's pretty great if you've never heard it before. Gave me chills the first time I listened to it.
I'm also a fan on Facebook :)
I'm also a fan on Facebook :-) My all time favorite patriotic song is John Phillip Sousa "Stars and Stripes Forever".

The National Anthem is by far my fav song, whether it is patriotic or not. Maybe that's because I'm related to the author. Of course I'm a big fan of Face b\Book. Don't think I could make it an entire day without going to FaceBook!
I have two favorite patriotic songs. The first is America the Beautiful. The Friday after 9/11, there was a country-wide moment of silence. I worked with the youth groups at our church, and we gathered all of the kids and adults from all over the church and stood in a circle around the parking lot. Someone prayed, and some women went inside and found a huge box of candles, and started handing out the candles and lighting them. We sang America the Beautiful, and when we sang the verse that says, "Oh beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife, who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life, " EVERYONE was crying. It was such a beautiful moment, I will never forget it.
My other favorite is God Bless America, because every time I hear it, I can hear my little Norwegian-born grandfather singing it as loud as he could. He wasn't born here, but he made sure everyone knoew how proud he was to be an American!
(And I'm a fan on facebook, too!)
My favorite is the National Anthem . I also do love God Bless the USA.
The Top Gun theme song :) It reminds me of my dad flying in air shows!
Angry American by Toby Keith. Best modern patriotic song ever.
What a beautiful bracelet. My brother is in the army. A favorite patriotic song though? That is a bit hard..."God Bless the USA" by anyone is usually beautiful.
"Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning" (i forget the official title) is a beautiful one...Tim McGraw I think.
I'm also a Facebook fan.
My favorite would be the Star Spangled Banner, especially after seeing the original flag at the Smithsonian this summer.
"America the Beautiful." In an American Heritage class in college, we were required to memorize all the verses and I love them. "...And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!" :)
Toby Keith's American Soldier. One of my troops had past, not from the war but, from an accident. At his wake they played an american solider there was'nt a dry eye in the church.

I like You're A Grand Ole Flag. It is catchy. Also, one of my Girl Scouts always asks if we can sing it at meetings, which makes me smile.
I'd have to agree with ol Lee Greenwood!! God Bless the USA!!
I think it's called "Over There" and if I remember correctly it was a WWII song. I think it is an awesome and catchy song.
"This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie.
I'm also a fan on FaceBook! Thanks!
I'm not sure if it falls into the patriotic category, but I vote for "Letters From Home" by John Michael Montgomery.
I'm a fan on Facebook.
Anybody remember those American history songs from Schoolhouse Rock? "The Shot Heard Round the World" and "The Great American Meltin' Pot"? And "Suffering' Until Suffrage!" I love those, and I consider them very patriotic. But for a more traditional choice, I go with "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."
